Today I did a little review of Nishimura's Principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, page 30 and 31. To excite a certain slice, Gz must be turned on, applying a soft RF containing that frequency. Then what about hard RF? It will excite everything because it contains all the frequencies. I looked back into the textbook because I was reading on Dr. Changho Choi's research in MRS analysis on brain tumor. In his research, Dr. Choi constantly optimizing the PRESS (point-resolved spectroscopy). So I also looked into Dr.Xiaojuan Li's lecture notes on that and find the PRESS profile. I wonder the difference between an RA pulse and sinc function. RF pulse are truncated sinc function.
I briefly read Changho's 3 articles and came up with a summary table.
